I have just received an email from eBay with a bit of a surprise inside. *** UPDATED ***
“From 13 May you will get 20 free listings a month in any category except for Motors – that’s 20 ways to reach eBay’s 18 million UK buyers. This isn’t a one-off offer, and it applies to both fixed price and auction formats.”
20 free listings a month, every month! Better than a kick in the teeth, plus what’s more you can schedule up to 20 listings to come live at a time to suit you, so they finish at the right time.
What’s not clear at present is if this is in addition to what were used to, or instead of. It’s for private sellers only and so the 100 free auction style listings of under 99p a month? Will we still get those? *** UPDATE*** No we won’t, these free listings are gone! Replaced with the 20 free listings. I assume that the great majority of private eBay sellers were not using their allotment and so eBay have diversified. The good point to this is that your listings can start at any price and can even be buy it now auctions rather than simple 99p auctions. Every cloud has a silver lining! Will there still be free listing weekends? We shall see.
Find out more on the eBay website. In the meantime I’ll be asking an eBay rep about this as there are no firm terms and conditions available for my browsing pleasure.
I will update when I know more. If you have a shop, then there’s even better news for you (NOT!).
Here’s what Irene of the Private seller team has to say:
