As the alarm went off the day started as any other, I stumbled into the bathroom, washed the sleep out of my eyes, brushed my teeth and stubbed my toe on the scales. As I moved them I decided to weigh myself and I shocked myself awake. 14 stones!
I’m about 5’11″ in shoes (and 6’3″ in heels but only on weekends) and I have noticed I’d piled a few pounds on recently but was shocked to learn just how much. Last summer I tipped the scale at 11 stone 11 pounds and was probably in the best physical shape of my life, I was keeping active through running, biking and a bit of weight training in the gym, I mean garage, but as the year went on and Christmas approached the fatty treats became more appealing and my weight went up, the cold weather kept me indoors when I would usually have been training and my new year resolutions were none existent.
So in March I find myself over two stone heavier than I’d like to be. I’d gone from eating salad at lunch to pies. My colleagues at work had mentioned seeing me tucking into a pie at breakfast that it wasn’t good for me, now I can see that was the truth.
So now I am pledging to myself that I will get back in shape, eat healthy, exercise and ensure that I lose the spare tyre I’ve been carrying around for six months. At the same time I may as well pack in the fags, it can’t hurt, only help both my health and my bank balance!
Over the course of my journey I will outline how I plan to go from fat to fit and post updates on my progress as I go. Feel free to chip in with messages of support or berate me if I aren’t proceeding as planned, and of you see me tucking into a pie, take a photo and email me it and I’ll add it to my wall of shame!
