Today is my Birthday. What better day to start a new blog. A new routine, for a new year on the planet. You are reading the first post of this new eBay blog. The website itself is by no means new and has over 1,400 posts, however most of them are related to its past use. An image dump. Long story short, eBay used to charge a ridiculous 12p per photo over and above the free photo that everyone gets per listing, so for 11 photos on each of 300 listings, that’s £396 a month and £4,752 a year! Just for photo hosting!
So I invested around £60 in a web address and a hosting package for the year and could then have as many pictures as I wanted with no worries about the cost! I will do a complete post on the benefits of this and if there is still a need for it on today’s eBay in the future and link to it HERE when it’s done.
What’s with the name?
Sayzey is my nickname, my real name is Mark. Ideally this blog would have a catchy name, something that relates to eBay in some way, but who had heard of Google when it first launched? Meaningless words can soon become commonplace after someone starts a website! I don’t think I will be competing with Google in any way but, its short and I already own it so sayzey.co.uk it is!
So what do I hope to achieve by writing this blog? Well I am an eBay addict and enjoy reading other eBay blogs such as:
But as much as I do like to read (and listen) to these blogs they are all American! While this isn’t a bad thing, ebay.com and ebay.co.uk are different breeds of the same animal. Meaning they are pretty much the same to look at, but there are subtle contrasts which do make a difference when you are looking for help and advice.
My idea is to simply write about problems and observations that I encounter throughout my daily eBay life over the coming weeks, months and beyond. I will share how I work, why I use eBay, issues I have encountered, humorous stories and answer any questions readers to both my blog and my eBay account may have.
If you want to take part in the conversation leave a comment or hit the contact me page.
Visit the about me page to learn more about me and subscribe to be notified of new posts when they come live. Initially I want to create a regular posting schedule because I know what it’s like to subscribe to a blog and look forward to new posts only to find that they are irregular and sometimes stop for weeks before resuming. So at the beginning I’m going for one post a week. I hope to be able to increase this as time goes by, but I don’t want to commit to writing 5 posts a week because I’m sure I will quickly fall behind!
As I am relaunching this website today I will make it a bumper week in order to get a few posts in the back catalogue, so coming tomorrow is a little bit about how I got started with eBay.
